Arethusa Farm
If you were reincarnated as a cow, you could scarcely do better than to be one of the Jerseys or Holsteins of Arethusa Farm. At the Litchfield dairy farm, the cows are treated to daily pampering, wide-open pastures, and all-around pristine conditions. These high standards of care have created exquisitely clean, rich, and flavorful milk, yogurt, butter, and ice cream.
Fire Ox Foods
Frustrated by a lack of convenient meal options for vegans, Yale grad student Zoe Geller didn’t just meal prep for themselves—she did it for the masses. Her company, Fire Ox Foods, locally produces frozen plant-based meals like Massaman Coconut Curry and Chipotle Red Bean Pozole.
LOCAL PARTNER: ConnCat
We join with the Connecticut Center for Arts & Technology in many ways to strengthen food justice in New Haven. Besides frequently hiring graduates of their culinary arts program, we have set up food distribution in the Dixwell and Newhall neighborhoods. During the initial shutdowns from COVID-19 we helped ConnCat temporarily convert their Orchid Cafe in to a food distribution center, supplied by donations from our distributor partners.
